Thirty years of red pens

George taught high school English for more than three decades. When he retired, he missed the students and, he admits, even the marking. "I like helping someone find the sentence they were looking for," he says.

A new classroom

Now he takes a few TaskCoast tasks a week from his study: essay coaching over video, proofreading business plans and polishing grant applications for small charities. "I choose the work I enjoy, and all I need is my laptop and a good cup of tea."

• Explain your edits, so people learn something for next time
• Help students learn, but never write their assessed work for them
