Meet Tom: earning between classes from his phone

How a uni student turned spare minutes into a steady side income with quick tasks and surveys.

The TaskCoast teamLast updated 21 October 2026

Spare minutes, real money

Tom studies full time at uni. Between lectures he opens TaskCoast, picks a couple of quick tasks and finishes them on his phone. "It's the bus ride and the coffee queue," he says. "It adds up."

From quick tasks to bigger gigs

He started with Reddit comments and Instagram follows. Now he also takes surveys and the odd app test, which pay more per task. "Once I had a few good reviews, offers got accepted much faster."

His advice

  • Write comments in your own words, every time
  • Check your screenshot shows your username before you submit
  • Only review apps you've actually tried
